Photofreights in Denmark
- Why Club 40?
The name has been chosen for several reasons: 40 is about the right number of participants in a price/room ratio, and steam photographers are not getting any
younger!
Club 40 was established early in 1998 as a support group for photo freights and organizer of railtours in Denmark and abroad. The Club is not supposed to generate any assets - all profits will be used to arrange further
specials.
We are trying to arrange one or two events every year with historical locomotives and rolling stock. While most of our specials have been steam hauled, we have also used NOHAB/GM and other historic diesel
stock.
As many quality photostops and runpasts as practically possible are part of every
tour.
Club 40 enjoys the continuing support of a number of regular passengers. The regulars come from all over the world; mainly Germany and Denmark, but an increasing number of Dutch and English photographers are joining our tours. We have even been able to attract interest from photographers from Canada, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Japan.
Since 1984 we have helped planning and running railtours in Denmark for a number of visiting groups and tour operators. During recent years we have assisted Steam Loco Safaris, The Railway Touring Company, DGEG, IGE Railtours, the Belgian GM Society and LCGB in arranging railtours in Denmark.
We collaborate closely with the Danish Railway Museum and the railway preservation
societies.
We will be happy to suggest an itinerary for a visit to Denmark and/or South Sweden with visits to museums and special trains on mainline and preserved
railways.

planning specials with K 563 and E 991 and on the Mariager-Handest preserved line in 2004.
Please also have a look at the photographs in our gallery page - most of them
were taken by participants in the tour, during runpasts and should, we hope,
give you an idea of the photographic possibilities of joining a Club 40 tour.
